MABLETHORPE CARNIVAL LIST OF EVENTS FOR 2003

Fishing matches at Grange Farm Leisure

The Spring Trophy - Sunday May 4th
The Tight Lines Trophy – Sunday August 10th
The Autumn Trophy – Sunday October 5th
All fishing matches, Peg draw at 8-30am, Start fishing at 9-00am, Weigh in at 3-00pm
Presentation of Prizes by the Carnival Queen, with the Princess and Prince, in the Badgers bar at 3-30pm approx. entry is £10 per peg and there will be prize money of £100, £50, £25 and a mystery weight prize of £10

Selection Night - Sunday July 27th
For the Queen Princess and Prince will be Sunday July 27th and will be held at the Dunes Family Entertainment Centre at 7-30pm.

Classic Car Show - Sunday August 3rd
Classic 2003 will be held on the Sherwood Field on Sunday August 3rd, starting at 10-00am and the trophy presentation at 4-00pm. Entrance fee will be £1-00 for adults and 50p for children under 14 and Senior citizens over 65 years. Lots of Classic Cars to look at and plenty of stalls, refreshments, Ice creams Etc. Ladies toilets available by kind permission of the Guides and Brownies.

Seaview Spectacular
On the Seaview Car Park starting at 6-30pm lots of stalls and games, café will be open for refreshments and the coastal beacon will be lit at 8-30pm. We also hope to have a small firework display.


CARNIVAL WEEK August 10th To August 17th

Sunday 10th
Fishing Match for the Tight Lines Trophy, at Grange Farm Leisure Starting at 8-30am.

Monday 11th
Beach games in front of RNLI station starting at 10-30am for children up to 14 years old. Just 25p each for two hours of pleasure, free rock and soft drinks to all contestants.

In House Bowls drive at Linkage Green, Stanley Avenue for the residents, Playing for the Norman Barnett Trophy, entry fee only 50p per player, Starting at 6-00pm, come along and support our handicapped friends, we are sure you will enjoy the evening. There will be a raffle and you can get a nice “cuppa” at the café, while you watch the Bowls.

Tuesday 12th
Open Bowls Drive at Linkage Green, Stanley Avenue, Play for the Eaton trophy and also a trophy for you to keep plus certificates or medallions for 2nd and 3rd places. Entry fee £2-00 per head, but if you don’t play why not come and have a cuppa from the café while you watch the bowls, also support the Raffle.

Wednesday 13th
Tiddler Catching Competition at Queens Park, for children up to 14 years old, plus fun races and a biscuit and soft drinks picnic on the grass, lasts approx 2 hrs all for just 25p each. Certificates for winners of the Tiddler catching, and rock etc for fun race winners. Starting at 10-30am.

Thursday 14th

Friday 15th
Sandcastle Building Competition on the Beach near the RNLI station, Trophy to the winners and certificates to the 2nd and 3rd castles. Entry fee is just £1-50 per family or group of friends, free soft drinks to all competitors, (cause it may be hot work). Starting at 10-30am.

Pram Race to be organised this year by the Mablethorpe and Sutton Pub watch group, details will be announced later. Will start around 7-00pm in the Town Centre.

Saturday 16th

Sunday 17th
Grand Parade and Gala day at the Sherwood Field, Gala will run from 11-00am onwards, Parade will set up on the field, contestants to be there by 1-15 pm for judging to start at 1-30pm, Parade will leave the field at 3-00pm prompt and will return to field at approx 4-20pm, when there will be displays by the Marching Bands /Majorettes in the Arena. Collection will be held on route.



Sunday September 7th
Grand Auction night at the Louth Hotel starting at 7-30pm (Provisional)

Sunday September 14th
Carnival Presentation Night at The Dunes family Entertainment Centre starting at 7-30pm. (Provisional)

Monday October 27th
Annual General Meeting at the Church Hall George Street at 7-30pm. (Provisional)



Other events may be arranged on later dates
We are hoping to arrange something for the two blank dates in carnival week, that is Thursday 14th and Saturday the 16th, any arrangements for these dates will be finalised in the near future.

On Easter Sunday we are holding an Easter Fair, and Easter Bonnet Competitions in conjunction with the Mablethorpe Tourism Forum. On the courtyard at Spanish City.
