Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea are striving to help developing world farmers and producers by achieving Fairtrade status.

The Fairtrade Foundation acts as a guarantor that the products which carry its mark have been sourced fairly to ensure that previously disadvantaged producers are getting a better deal.

Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea towns' application was initiated by the Tourism Forum and is fully supported by the Town Council. The application is well advanced with local enterprises the Coop, Lidl, Spar, Uno Beach Takeaway and Colours Guest House already serving Fairtrade goods.

Once Fairtrade status is granted, Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea will be at the forefront of Lincolnshire's drive to work with local farmers and producers alongside the Fairtrade initiative.

The Tourism Forum will develop the Fairtrade impetus and hold fairs and events to promote the impressive range of healthy eating options in Lincolnshire."
