PRAYER FOR THE LIFEBOAT AND HER CREW

0 God our Father, whose son Jesus Christ revealed your infinite care for all men, we ask you to give your blessing to this Lifeboat and those who sail in her. Grant that she may always be ready for the help of those in peril on the sea.

We commend to you her crew. You have given them the task of rescuing those who are in trouble and danger. Help them to find pride and courage in the thought that there is no greater task than that of saving others.

When they think of the risks they must face, help them to remember that Jesus said: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Strengthen and protect them in this work, that they may be ready to risk all to save others. This we ask for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen

THE LIFEBOAT PRAYER

Merciful Father, all things in heaven and earth are held within your loving care, look with favour upon the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Protect and bless the crews of all their lifeboats and all who risk their own safety to bring help to others. Guide all who work for the Institution that they may be faithful to the vision of its founders, so that it may always be seen as a beacon of hope and light to those who find themselves 'In peril on the sea. Through the same Jesus Christ, to whom with You and the Holy Spirit be honour and glory, now and forever. Amen.
