This website to shows a little of what the village was
like in the past with a few old photos from my archives and some descriptions
from my own point of view at the same time to be as accurate as possible.
The farm yards and buildings old thatch cottages have gone for ever, however
on the bright side there are several thriving business in the village
population 200+ we have two public houses.
The Crown Inn very old on the Beesby
road, also The Turks Head on the
Mablethorpe Road both have history. There is post Office and general store
run by Mr T Pratt. There is a fishing lake Oham
Lakes, The Willows Caravan Park at the Mablethorpe end of the village
and Holidays chalets. Also on Mablethorpe road there is a filling station
and Garage on chapel hill, and on main road Fern Lea garden Centre Nursery.
We had two mills in Maltby. The only one now is a stump with a fibre
glass top on it known as the Old Mill, there was a post mill down mill
lane gone long ago. There is the Parish Council using the village hall for its meetings. The local district council is
East Lindsey DC.
We have four green lanes plus school lane, Occupation lane Hodgtoft Lane
Mill Lane and Fen Lane all give access to agricultural land and two have
footpaths, Earls bridge is on the Mablethorpe road the village now has
Gas Sewage Electric and Water there was a time when we had none. |
