3rd August 2005 AT the last meeting of the Parish Council there was great concern regarding the possibility of social housing in the village. This was as a result of a survey which the Longhurst Housing Association had commissioned to establish whether there was a need for such social housing. As the only input the Parish Council had had in this was to distribute the questionnaires, it was felt by the Parish Council that it would be better if representatives from Longhurst Housing Association and the Rural Housing Enabler from Community Councils Lincolnshire attended a public meeting in the village hall to explain the situation. The public meeting held on 2nd August was well attended and lively. Nick Inman (Longhurst) and Jessica Thomas (CCL) explained that they had received the results of the survey that day, which showed there was not a need for social housing in the village and told the meeting that Longhurst Association would not continue further with this at the present time. Other Parish Council news is that meetings will commence on time at 7.30, however there will be a 10 minute session prior to each meeting for any members of the public to ask questions. These sessions do not form part of the official meetings and therefore will not be minuted unless an important issue is raised. However, if there is something of concern to residents it can be raised then for formal discussion at the next Council meeting if necessary. The Parish Council, as part of its campaign to obtain Quality Status, has recently issued parish newsletters, and these can be found in the Post Office and the garage.
