The second meeting of the Neighbourhood Management Board was
held on Thursday 3 April 2008. The meeting was very well attended
with some lively debate concerning local issues.
Colin Greenaway (vice chairman) commented “Although it is
still early days since its inception, we do feel it is already beginning
to show results in improving the environment for the local residents.
Residents are urged to attend the local neighbourhood management
panel meetings where they can voice their concern and make suggestions
for improvements for the area where they live in an informal and
friendly environment.
We feel sure that with the involvement of the residents, we really
can make a difference”.
NEIGHBOURHOOD Management is led by local residents. It enables
residents and service providers to work in partnership in the area
to improve local services and to build a cohesive and inclusive
community where there is a sense of pride in the local area.
The Board meets bi-monthly and will be responsible for developing
an action plan to improve the area and then to monitor progress
to ensure improvements are made to local services.
The Board consists of 15 local residents, they are:
Representing Mablethorpe:
Malcolm Nicholls, Elizabeth Smart, Michael Evans, Rosemary Payne
and Josie Creamer.
Representing Trusthorpe:
Ann Britz, Patricia Gordon, Colin Greenaway, Peter Flack and John
Simpson .
Representing Sutton on Sea:
Sue Neville, Don Taylor, Ivan Maxwell, Doreen Hinde and Nicholas
Dennis.
The Partnership Board also includes representatives from Lincolnshire
Police, the voluntary sector, Lincolnshire County Council and local
businesses.
Six Theme Groups have been established to tackle local issues,
including policing and dog fouling enforcement, young people services
and facilities, transport and accessibility, regeneration and housing,
improved communication and education and health services.
Local Neighbourhood Panel meetings have been established in each
of the three areas, Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe and Sutton on Sea. The
Panels will meet two weeks before the Partnership Board, allowing
residents to raise issues that will then be fed into the Board.
Recently appointed Chairman of the Partnership Board, Nicholas
Dennis, said: “This establishes
a channel for residents to voice their opinions, fears and moans
in a less formal setting than the established local government channels,
and gives everyone the chance to be involved in building a better
area. Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe and Sutton on Sea deserve improvement,
so come in with us and make a difference,” he said.
