It was noted that the improvements had already been undertaken. Funds raised from a number of sources totalled £2553.

Members felt they could not support a retrospective application and it was therefore proposed, seconded and
Resolved: That the grant application from St. Peter’s Parochial Church Council, Trusthorpe for financial support towards the cost of improvements to St Peter’s annexe be refused.
120. PROPOSED EXHUMATION FROM TRUSTHORPE CEMETERY

The Clerk reported that he had received a request from a Mrs C Mason of Sutton-on-Sea for the Council to give consent to the exhumation of the body of her late husband, Mr Keith Mason, from Trusthorpe Cemetery. It was noted that Mrs Mason would be moving to Exmouth, Devon and wanted to have her husband re-buried there.

The Clerk stated that because the deceased is buried in consecrated ground, a faculty will be required from the Church of England to exhume the body and that, normally, the Church of England do not support exhumation in these circumstances. East Lindsey District Council’s Environmental Protection Section had no objection provided that eleven conditions are adhered to.

The Clerk outlined further requirements, including the need to have a police officer and a representative of the Town Council present.

Members were supportive of Mrs Mason’s wishes and it was therefore proposed, seconded and
Resolved:
(i) That the Committee recommend support for the exhumation of the body of the late Keith Mason for reburial in Exmouth, Devon subject to:-
(a) The applicant obtaining a faculty from the Church of England to exhume the body,
(b) The applicant indemnifying the Council against any third party claim that may arise as a result of the exhumation, and
(c) That the applicant meets all costs and expenses that the Council may incur.
