82. APOLOGY

An apology for absence was received and accepted from Cllr Mrs A Thomas (illness).

83. TOWN CLERK’S RESIGNATION

The Mayor reported that the Town Clerk had tendered his resignation terminating his employment on the 30th June 2007.

It was proposed, seconded and
Resolved: That the Town Clerk’s resignation be accepted.

84. NEW TOWN CLERK – APPOINTMENTS PROCEDURE

Members considered the election of an appointments panel with delegated powers to approve the job specification details and associated application form and information pack, selection of candidates for interview and the appointment of a new town clerk (subject to subsequent ratification by the Council).

Members also agreed that professional help and guidance would also be of help in the selection process.

It was proposed, seconded and
Resolved:

(i) That a panel be appointed with delegated powers to undertake the following:-
(a) To consider and approve the short list of candidates for interview
(b) To appoint the new town clerk (subject to formal ratification by the full council)

(ii) That membership of the appointments panel shall comprise the current Mayor and Deputy Mayor together with Cllrs G Gooding, Mrs C Lewis, Mrs M Rolls, R B Shields, MBE and Mrs J Taylor (all subject to being re-elected on the 3rd May 2007)

(iii) That Mr Tony Lascelles, Head of Professional Services with East Lindsey District Council be requested to advise on the appointments procedure, and

(iv) That the attached job vacancy advertisement be approved.
