On Thursday 23rd of May 2019 East Lindsey residents will be able to vote for the party they wish to represent the East Midlands in the EU Parliament (postal votes are already being delivered and can be filled in and returned straight away). If you are not registered to vote you have missed the deadline which was the 7th of May.

MEP’s are elected on a proportional representation basis so each citizen gets one vote only and is able to vote for a party rather than a person. There are 5 seats, currently 2 held by UKIP, 2 Conservative and 1 Labour.

In East Lindsey the 70.7% of voters who choose to leave the EU in 2016 may well now relish the opportunity to vote in MEP’s from the Brexit Party or UKIP!

2019 EU Elections East Midlands Results

Our new MEP’s are Annunziata Rees-Mogg (Bexit Party), Jonathan Bullock (Brexit Party), Matthew Patten (Brexit Party), Bill Newton Dunn (Liberal Democrats) and Matthew Patten (Labour) with the newly formed Brexit Party receiving more than twice the number of votes than their nearest rival. The Brexit Party also won nationally winning 9 of the 12 regions claiming 29 of the 72 seats.

  • Brexit Party – 452,321 (38.2%)
  • Liberal Democrats – 203,989 (17.2%)
  • Labour – 164,682 (13.9%)
  • Conservative – 126,138 (10.7%)
  • Green – 124,630 (10.5%)
  • UKIP – 58,198 (4.9%)
  • Change UK – 41,117 (3.5%)
  • Independent Network – 7,641 (0.7%)
