Almost £280,000 has been awarded in grants to parish councils, village halls, sports clubs and community initiatives across the area from the East Lindsey Investment Fund (ELIF) GRASSroots scheme.

The Lincolnshire Community Foundation run scheme has pledged a total investment of £279,683, which has been matched with £186,952. This combines with more than £1million invested in the previous two rounds through grants and match funding, awarded since East Lindsey District Council pledged the initial £1million from its own funds in December 2024.

This investment combines with £1million already realised earlier in the year through the first two rounds, leading to major investment of £1.5million in total in these facilities – which often at the heart of rural communities – through ELIF.

The funding has been distributed among:

Spilsby Town Football Club – Construction of permanent toilet facilities at the football ground.
Wainfleet St Mary Parish Council – Improving the community hall, including replacing the floor and purchasing new tables and gazebos.
The Friends of St Helen’s Church and Community Centre, Burgh on Bain – Fitting of electric heating to replace an oil-fired boiler and radiators.
Vessel Projects, Louth – Delivery of a community arts project to celebrate East Lindsey’s unique archaeological heritage, particularly the early medieval period.
Wainfleet All Saints Town Council – Fixing the mounting of three clock faces of the clocktower in the market place and a contribution towards storage facilities.
Mareham Le-Fen Village Hall and Memorial Law Charity – The provision and installation of children’s play equipment in the public open space at Mareham Le-Fen Community Centre.
Spilsby Wado Ryu Karate Do – Equipment and materials for the club.
Kirkby on Bain Parish Council – To purchase and install a variety of play equipment on the community-owned grassed field in Kirby on Bain.
Marshchapel Village Hall – To carry out essential renovations.
Covenham Sailing Club – Funding to enhance the sports facility at Covenham reservoir.
Seagull Recycling Ltd, Skegness – Funding to deliver targeted activities across wellbeing, growing, arts and outreach.
Mablethorpe Men’s Shed – To fit new windows and doors in the workshop space which will create a better environment for the Shed’s activities.
North Thoresby Community Events Association – Funding for the Connected Project, which is a community initiative designed to strengthen local engagement while celebrating heritage and improving access to information.
Covenham Parish Council – Supporting the purchase of the outbuilding behind the parish rooms which will be converted into an accessible toilet.
Jubilee Park Bowling Club – Installation of an automated watering system to maintain the bowling green.
Coningsby Community Hall – Renovation of the hall to include total refurbishment of the kitchen.
Hammond House Gallery – To install new windows, a hanging system and to reconfigure space and add a sink unit to the gallery.
Chapel St Leonard’s Village Hall – A new roof for the hall.
Revesby Village Hall – Replacement lighting and purchase of a dishwasher.
St Peter’s Church, Saltfleetby – Purchase of a community marquee.
Binbrook Parish Council – Purchase and installation of a new children’s play frame.
The Boatshed Charity, Mablethorpe – Replacement lighting throughout the venue.
North Thoresby Football Club – Purchase of nets, corner flags and equipment to extend parking facilities. Support to improve parking.
Stroke Survivors, Horncastle – Funding for room hire to enable an extra day of provision for six months.

Councillor Adam Grist, portfolio holder for market towns and the rural economy, said: “These investments are at the heart of our commitment to use ELIF to raise living standards, support communities and boost the feeling of pride in the District.

“Delivering an investment of this scale was a commitment we gave to the public last year when the funding was approved – and we are proud have supported 70 projects to date.

“These initiatives are reaching all corners of our District. Taken together with our UKSPF-funded programme, this is the largest programme of investment in community facilities that East Lindsey has funded in a single year, accelerating the transformation made over the past couple of years.

The ELIF GRASSroots scheme is now fully committed, with all remaining projects due to be delivered in the coming months. However, other grant funding is still available.
