mablethorpe.infoProjects that support large green spaces, heritage, culture, sport and the visitor economy have all received a share of more than £880,000 from the East Lindsey Investment Fund (ELIF).
Combined with grant awards from the ELIF Pride Essentials scheme and match funding, this represents a total investment of more than £1.5 million made in these projects initiatives through ELIF in December.
The funding, provided directly by the council as part of a wider £10m investment in the future of the district, has been distributed from the Pride in East Lindsey Grant Scheme for grants over £25,000.
The grant scheme, which launched in September and has been significantly over-subscribed, was committed in only one round. It is now closed for applications.
A total of £888,154 has been awarded to ten projects within a programme worth more than £1.5m. They are:
Heritage Lincolnshire – New car parking facilities and picnic area at Bolingbroke Castle in Old Bolingbroke, to support the new UKSPF-funded Gas House Heritage Centre.
Woodhall Spa Parish Council – Renovation of historic shop signage in Woodhall Spa, creating a more attractive environment for local businesses.
Mablethorpe & Sutton Town Council – Renovation of three public toilets (North End, Coral Café and Bohemia Way) in Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea which are frequently used by visitors and residents.
SELCP – Landscaping of Queen’s Park, Mablethorpe and improving the operating environment for local businesses.
Friends of Park Avenue, Louth – A brand new play park at Park Avenue in Louth with CCTV.
SELCP – A Green Horizons project which seeks to transform green spaces and landscapes on the Skegness Foreshore and create an exciting new horticultural apprenticeship to support the development of green spaces.
Mablethorpe Area Partnership/Football Foundation – A new Football Foundation PlayZone for Mablethorpe at Sherwood Fields.
Sir Joseph Banks Society – Completing the purchase of the Sir Joseph Banks Centre in Horncastle which will secure the long-term future of the museum.
Sessions Arts CIC – A programme of arts and cultural events in Horncastle, Spilsby and the wider district, including the Horncastle Horse Fair.
Councillor Adam Grist, Portfolio Holder for market towns and the rural economy, said: “This funding has the power to change the lives of many people across East Lindsey.
“Investment through the Pride in East Lindsey and Pride Essentials schemes will create or renovate at least 16 community facilities — including three public WCs and two sports venues — while supporting more than 15 cultural, community and arts events.
“In addition to this, at least six parks and public green spaces across the district will see significant improvements.
“This is a fantastic investment in our area. Every project reflects the aims of ELIF – to enhance our environment, revitalise public spaces and improve facilities, particularly public conveniences, for everyone.
“This round of funding shows what we can achieve when we work together towards a shared goal of making East Lindsey an even better place to live, work and visit.”
