mablethorpe.infoAcis Group is bringing maths to the masses as part of National Numeracy Day, a campaign to improve people’s confidence with maths and encourage them to develop number skills for everyday life.
National Numeracy, the organisation behind National Numeracy day, says their research suggests 49% of the UK’s working age population has the expected numeracy levels of a primary school child. And a report by charity Pro Bono Economics, commissioned by KPMG for National Numeracy, also estimates that low numeracy levels could cost the UK up to £25 million.
Numeracy is about people having basic maths skills and the confidence to use them. Across its organisation on Wednesday, Acis will be running activities and games to help people get friendlier with figures.
Visit CLIP in Mablethorpe to get to grips with weights, measures, fractions and percentages while baking pancakes and other treats. There will also be an explosive volcano activity to focus on measuring. Discounts are on offer at Mablethorpe’s Café CLIP on the day too.
