The Mablethorpe Carnival started before the Second World War as a joint event with Sutton on Sea, set up with the help of Billy Butlin. It ran until 2002 after which it was much missed by locals and holidaymakers alike. 16 years later, the Mablethorpe Carnival Committee was formed to revive the event, which has become an annual fixture once more.
The Carnival takes place in September as part of the town’s efforts to extend the season by giving people a reason to visit and stay in our resort outside of the traditional busy periods. This compliments the Sutton on Sea Carnival, which takes place in July.
